The short version

We collect only what we need to make and deliver your order: the details you type into the order form and your email address. We never sell your information, we never use your stories for anything except your order, and we delete what we no longer need.

What we collect

When you place an order, we collect:

  • everything you enter in the order form, including the story you tell us about the person, pet or child the gift is for;
  • your email address, so we can send lyrics for approval and deliver your order;
  • order details such as the product, price and payment status. Payment itself is handled by Stripe; we never see your card number.

If you join a waiting list for a product that has not launched, we collect your email address for that purpose only.

How we use it

We use your information to write, produce and deliver your order, to send you the lyrics for approval, to tell you when your order is ready, and to meet our legal obligations (such as keeping records of sales). The legal basis for this is the contract we have with you when you order. We do not use your stories to train anything, publish them, or share them beyond the people making your order.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of trusted services to run Songbird:

  • Stripe, who process your payment;
  • Maileroo, who deliver our emails to you;
  • Vercel, who host this website.

Each processes your information only on our instructions. We do not sell or rent your information to anyone.

Cookies and storage

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. While you fill in an order form, your answers are saved in your own browser's local storage so nothing is lost if you navigate away; this never leaves your device until you submit the form, and it is cleared after your order completes.

How long we keep it

We keep order details for as long as we need them to deliver your order and meet our legal record-keeping obligations, then delete them. Waiting-list email addresses are deleted once we have told you the product has launched, or on request at any time.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to access the information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict our use of it, and to receive a copy in a portable format. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

A dedicated contact route for privacy requests is coming soon and will be listed here. In the meantime, you can reply to any email we send you about your order.
